I cant remember what i did the past week.

But i know i was busy going out, almost everyday, even though i was working for a few days in a week in my tuition centre.

Last Saturday was my group's audition. Finally, after weeks of practising one "stupid" song just for audition.

i reached Choa Chu Kang at 8.50am and i expect everyone to be late since we agreed to meet at 9am to sing(ya, try singing at 9am). so i had breakfast at Lot1 before i take the bus to school. but unfortunately, Sze Xin, Mikhail and Karissa were on time. i didnt expect the President to be on time though.

Audition was 12pm, and we had 3 hours to practise. but still, we didnt perform up to what is expected, we sang to fast may be because we were too nervous.

Coming to PJ suddenly gives me a nostagic feeling.. its been almost a year since i stepped into this school of mine. the security guard is still the same old man who questions many questions as usual. when i entered into the side door that links to the office,

several flashbacks came back:


those times when i was at the concourse mugging hard while munching on hot dog bun that costs $1 every tuesday


and singing loudly in the canteen without caring whether our voices(or noise) would disturb them.

all those days i spent in Pioneer was either studying, or singing. Life in PJ was pretty mundane and boring. but i was glad to make many blossom friends and buddies who never fail to cheer me up when i am down.


despite not being able to attain fantastic results like the smart ones did, i was thankful that the school recognised me for my leadership and commitment towards my CCA.

the school has shaped my mind to think more maturely mentally, and emotionally in non academic or academic areas.

Although i regretted taking this route, i experienced many many setbacks and emotional baggages and achieved goals.


ask me if i could remember my school's creed, i can tell you i couldnt remember most of it. but at least i still remember the 1st sentence of the pledge,


"While I live, I learn".

Guess what i've been busy all these while?





i'm singing again.

this time for PJC Tenth Anniversary Alumni Dinner on the 18th July.

and next week we will be having our audition in school.

we decided to perform since we all missed the stage.

for the guys, they have only Saturdays to practice, since they are still stuck in the army. muahaha. but well, i can say they are still up to standard :)

for the girls, we have been practising our songs twice a week; one on a weekday and one every saturday. see how many Saturdays we got to sacrifice just for one performance!

Wanna know some information about acapella? Well, for us, we are forming a SATB group, meaning Soprano Alto Tenor and Bass group. Generally, Sopranos are females that sings the upper notes while Altos are femals that sings the lower notes. Tenors are guys that can reach the higher notes while Basses are guys that sing low notes. we use our voices to create the melody, the bass and harmonising.

we are going to sing rendition of love songs mainly from the 30s, like "Blue Moon" by Elvis Presley and "Seaside Rendevous" by Queen.

this performance could probably be my last one(unless the school invites us back). I hope we can really do it well, for the last time.

but... if anyone of you needs people to sing Christmas carols, you may call us anytime :)

it was meant to be a surprise for the June babies, but alas, Zhicao just blurted it out to me when we were on our way to fisherman's wharf for our dinner. hahaha.

and after our dinner, we headed to singapore river while Desmond and Joyce collected our cake from Liang Court.


and of course, it's a marvellous chocolate cake. cant you see our happy faces? we are all over the moon.

it seems that day we were the stars; photo flashes are practically everywhere. we were so confused which camera to look at. but thanks everyone for giving us that glamourous moment!

i actually wanted to buy last year.. but i cant remember why i didnt get it. thanks to my dear linnet, she really knows what i like. :) and also pei zhen who got the book for me.

girls, get this book if you need to know what necessities you need in your wardrobe. (or else you can borrow from me, after i've finished dissecting this book!)

Joyce also made cards for both us, inside containing wishes by our dear SIM mates.

you can see that she spent a great deal of time making this card, carefully making the pattern, glueing, cutting those shreds of paper, pasting it. it takes alot of patience(and opportunity cost).

after our cake cutting session, everyone else were having fun with the camera.

two of my SIM friends gave me their handmade items. i love handmade gifts, and treasure them lot more than other gifts. to me handmade gifts are not the money that counts, but rather the thoughts and efforts that counts. besides, handmade presents are always one and only one, you can hardly duplicate it.


Keycharm

Joyce gave me this beautiful keycharm shaped of an angel. its so PRETTY! this photo cant really show the colours out but i'll bring to school to show it off to everyone!



Earstuds

Desmond made these chinese knot earstuds for me; i seriously thought guys who handmade stuffs have EXTINCT. these earstuds are so unique right?

Chocolate Crinkles

i made this a few weeks back, when i was really bored at home.

and it turned out very successfully and it really tastes good :).

i took this recipe from the Straits Times(adapted from Field Guide To Cookies by Anita Chu), but i modified a little to make it less sweet and to bring out the bitter taste of dark chocolate.

if you love soft cookies with a height, that allows your teeth to sink in, then try this, its really to make!

Ingredients:
170g Dark Chocolate
85g butter
1Tbs Brandy(optional)
2 tbs cocoa powder
3/4 tsp baking powder
80g Icing Sugar(or 115g sugar if you follow the original)
1/2 tsp sea salt
1 tsp vanilla

Method:
1. place chocolate, butter and brandy in a metal/heat resistant glass bowl, set it over pot of simmering water. the bottom of the bowl should not touch the water. when mixture is glossy and melted, give it a good stire and set it aside to cool.

2. sift flour, cocoa powder and baking powder. set aside.

3. beat sugar and eggs until thick and smooth in either by a mixer or hand. add vanilla and melted chocolate. mixed until combined. add flour and cocoa mixture and the salt, mixed till just combined.

4. scoop dough out into a plastic container witha tight-fitting lid,cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.

5. when ready to bake, preheat oven to 17 deg C. take dough out and let soften for 20 mins while oven preheats.

6. line cookie sheet with baking parchment or a silicone baking mat. scoop out generous tablespoonsful of dough, roll into balls and place on cookie sheet about 3cm apart. the balls should be about the size of an unshelled walnut.

7. bake 10 to 12mins until tops are cracked. remove from oven, let cookies cool for 5 mins then transfer them to metal rack to cool completely before serving.


makes 20 to 22 cookies.



yesterday had a birthday surprise by my fellow SIM friends. THANK YOU SO MUCH! i really love the presents. thanks to the organisers for the hard work :)

Yesterday i joined my JC mates at Holland for a steamboat buffet at 8.30pm. i have always been wanting to try the steamboat but its always so packed!


June Babies cupcakes!

Well, so coincidentally, the 3 of our birthdays fall in the month of Gemini!

i bought Yihan a notebook and Jae a pair of earrings. hope they like it.

the food is not bad and the service is EXCELLENT(although they well pretty slow initially). i love the fact that they have sauce and paste for us to mix and match whatever flavours we want.


XiaoLongBaos

i hate too many Xiao Long Baos that when i see this picture, i feel like puking. hahaha. Xiao Long Baos are of course nice la, but dun eat too overbroad like me; you wont feel like eating anymore Xiao Long Baos for the next few months. :P

Recently I joined Ruby, Sarah and their friend Ray to Sentosa for a tan. Hengyi came later to suprised Sarah. so sweet! but seriously, the sun wasnt that scorching afterall.

but at least i took some pictures there.

I'm glad to learn a skill from the outing: CYCLING!

i finally know how to cycle, after 19 years(quoted from caocao) of ignorance. haha

i would like to thank Hengyi and Ruby who are my shifus and Sarah and her friend for constant encouragement. after enduring the sun for 2 hours and minor cuts, finally i can cycle freely:)

i cant remember if i have mentioned this in my blog. i actually started learning when i was 12. however, as i kept falling down, i decided to give up. though my uncle told me that falling down was an inevitable thing when learning, i could not stand seeing myself with cuts.

2 years ago, because my class wanted to go to Pulau Ubin to cycle, my buddy Jeannette and her sis dressed me up in long pants and baggy clothing and taught me cycling at her condo. i seriously looked like an idiot. hahaha. but still, i learnt halfway since i had choir practice on that day.
